Effective October 3, 2026
The short version
- Danger Stamp warns you about scams. It catches most, not all, so stay careful and ask someone you trust when in doubt.
- Free is free for good. Pro and Pro Family renew until you cancel, and you can cancel any time.
- Use it for yourself and your family. Don't copy it, take it apart to build your own, or use our server outside the extension.
- What we do with your information is in our privacy policy.
Agreeing to these terms
These terms are an agreement between you and the company that operates Danger Stamp ("Danger Stamp", "we", "us"). By installing the Danger Stamp browser extension, using dangerstamp.com, or paying for a plan, you agree to them. If you don't agree, please don't use Danger Stamp.
If you set Danger Stamp up for someone else, such as a parent, you agree on their behalf that it may run in their browser, and you should tell them it is there.
What Danger Stamp does
Danger Stamp is a browser extension for Google Chrome on a computer. It looks at the web pages, emails, chats, comments and ads you see and warns you when something shows the signs of a scam. When it finds one, it may stamp the page, lock its form, pause a risky download and explain what to do. It also lets you check a message you're unsure about.
We keep improving how Danger Stamp works and what it looks for. Features may change, be added or be removed over time.
A helping hand, not a guarantee
Scammers change their tricks every day. Danger Stamp catches most of the scams we test it on, but it will miss some, and it can sometimes warn about something that is fine. A page without a stamp is not a promise that it is safe, and "No warning signs found" means only that.
Danger Stamp does not replace your own judgment, your bank, the police or professional advice. You are responsible for what you decide to do. If you think you have been scammed, contact your bank and the authorities straight away. Our recovery steps are general guidance, not legal or financial advice.
Plans, billing and cancelling
- Free runs the checks on your computer, never uses the AI check and costs nothing.
- Pro covers one browser and adds the AI check: $4.99 a month or $39 a year.
- Pro Family covers up to 5 browsers: $12.99 a month or $99 a year.
Prices are in US dollars, and taxes may be added where the law requires. Payments are handled by Stripe; we never see your full card number.
A paid plan renews automatically at the end of each month or year until you cancel. You can cancel any time from Manage billing in the extension. You keep your paid plan until the end of the period you already paid for, then Danger Stamp goes back to Free. Protection never switches off completely: when a paid plan ends, Free keeps running.
If a payment fails, you keep your paid plan for 7 days while the payment is tried again. If it still fails, Danger Stamp goes back to Free.
Payments are not refunded for time already used, except where the law says otherwise. If you think you were charged by mistake, email hello@dangerstamp.com and we'll look at it.
If we change a price, we'll tell paying customers by email before it applies to their next renewal.
Pro Family
The person who pays for Pro Family can invite up to 4 more browsers with an invite link. Members don't pay and never see a payment screen. Their browsers can see the payer's email address, so they know whose plan covers them, and the payer can see each browser's monthly count of checks and warnings, never what was checked. Each member decides for their own browser whether to turn on AI checks. If the payer cancels, the family's browsers go back to Free at the end of the paid period.
Fair use
A paid plan includes up to 20,000 AI checks per browser each month. Ordinary browsing uses a small fraction of that. If a browser goes over, it keeps the on-computer checks for the rest of the month. A plan is for people browsing in their own browsers, not for automated or bulk checking.
What you may not do
You may use Danger Stamp for yourself, your family and your own household. You may not:
- copy, sell, rent or redistribute the extension or any part of it, or publish a modified copy;
- take it apart (reverse engineer, decompile or disassemble it) to copy its rules, data or methods or to build a competing product, except as far as the law expressly allows despite this limit;
- use our server or its addresses (such as api.dangerstamp.com) except through the extension and dangerstamp.com as they are meant to be used, including with scripts, bots or other software;
- try to get around plans, fair-use limits, rate limits or security, or share invite links to sell or give away access;
- scrape, copy or republish our scam lists, rules, test results or other content in bulk;
- send false reports, try to overload our service, or use Danger Stamp to harm, harass or deceive anyone;
- use Danger Stamp in a way that breaks the law.
If you are a security researcher and find a weakness, please tell us at hello@dangerstamp.com before sharing it publicly.
What belongs to us
The Danger Stamp extension, website, server, rulebooks, scam lists, test cases and results, designs, the name "Danger Stamp" and the stamp logo belong to us or to those who license them to us, and are protected by copyright, trademark and other laws. Using Danger Stamp gives you a personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable right to use it as these terms allow. It does not give you ownership of any of it.
Some parts of the extension are open-source software from others, used under their own licences (for example the QR code reader, under the Apache 2.0 licence). Those licences apply to those parts.
Brand names shown in warnings (for example when a fake page copies a real company) belong to their owners. Showing them does not mean those companies are connected to or endorse Danger Stamp.
Your reports and feedback
When you report a scam, a missed scam or a false alarm, or send us ideas, you let us use them to improve Danger Stamp, including adding the scam to our tests and rules. We don't publish who reported something. What a report contains and how long we keep it is in our privacy policy.
Privacy
Our privacy policy explains what the extension reads, what leaves your computer, what we keep and what we never do. It is part of these terms.
Other services we rely on
Danger Stamp uses other companies to work: an AI provider for the AI check, Stripe for payments, and companies that host our website, server and email. Their services can sometimes be slow or unavailable. When the AI check can't be reached, Danger Stamp keeps running the on-computer checks and tells you it couldn't finish.
Ending your use
You can stop using Danger Stamp at any time by removing the extension, and cancel a paid plan from Manage billing. We may suspend or end access for a browser or account that breaks these terms, puts our service or other people at risk, or that we must stop serving by law. If we end a paid plan for a reason other than a breach of these terms, we'll refund the unused part. We may also stop offering Danger Stamp altogether; if we do, we'll give paying customers notice and refund any unused paid time.
Limits of our responsibility
Danger Stamp is provided "as is" and "as available". As far as the law allows, we make no promise that it will catch every scam, never give a false alarm, or work without interruption, and we are not responsible for losses caused by a scam it did not catch, by a false alarm, or by a decision you made.
As far as the law allows, our total responsibility to you for anything to do with Danger Stamp is limited to the amount you paid us in the 12 months before the claim, or $50 if you use the Free plan. Nothing in these terms limits rights you have under consumer protection laws that can't be limited by agreement.
Which law applies
These terms are governed by the laws of the Province of New Brunswick and the federal laws of Canada that apply there. If you are a consumer living elsewhere, you keep any protections the law of the place you live gives you.
Changes to these terms
We may update these terms. The date at the top shows when they last changed. If a change matters for paying customers, we'll tell them by email or in the extension before it takes effect. Using Danger Stamp after a change means you accept the new terms.
